Catherine- In fact, 4 km IS a biggie. If I tried to do 4K right now I’d probably need Squad 51 to come give me an EKG and some oxygen. Anyway, keep it up. I’m sure you’ll get to 10 km before you know it…if you don’t get lost in a blizzard or something. How about trying it in snow shoes? 😉

Michele- Thanks. Having ice cream with Nadia was one of those nice daddy/daughter moments, and totally worth it. Nadia regularly mentions, “‘member when me and daddy” did such and such. I love it. I’m just being super careful right now to break old habits.

Tracy- I agree, having a “cheat” occasionlly is fine. I just can’t have many right now until I know I can handle it. I’ve never been a sweets junky, but if I cheated regularly, before you know it I’d be eating burgers, going out for Tex-mex, having six pieces of pizza, and the like. I’m sure that eventually that won’t be a big issue because the lifestyle shift I’ve made will have become a strong habit, replacing the old ones.

I am on one of the china adoption boards with your wife and read about you there. Thought I’d come over and say hey! Oh, and I cheated today too. Basically, I cheat every Sunday and I think that is what keeps me pretty straight the rest of the week – just knowing that on Sunday I will have a little reward.

I bet Louanne told you, but your blog inspired me to get outside (can’t today as it snowed in the Tundra yesterday big time)/get on my Treadmill to increase my physical activity. I am aiming to be able to run a 10 km run or something along those lines by September. Even if I don’t actually participate in a ‘formal’ run..I will be at least aiming to be able to clock in 10 km at one time. So far I am up to about 4 km…no biggie I know, but every little bit helps…mostly speed walking or hiking some trails because I don’t want a knee injury to stop me…..
