Slow weight loss is best and exercise is key! I think it’s awesome that you have a personal trainer!

We are proud of you, Mike, even though we don’t know you. This is a great thing you are doing for your daughter, Nadia.
Good luck “Growing out your pounds!” says Grace.

After adopting our daughter I lost 20 lbs just from the China trip and chasing her around. I’m back up now and need to shed a few lbs again so I’ve been watching what I eat and doing the gym thing. It’s not easy doing it at our age is it????

Kathy- Thanks for the kind words, and congrats on the triathlon. I can honestly say, though, that even a terrorist couldn’t get me to do a triathlon. In fact, pretty much any race would require at least a couple of “evildoers” to persuade me.

Several years ago, I weighed, well, a lot — not brave enough to tell you, but it was more than you’d imagine. I did Weight Watchers for two years and lost about 50 lbs through diet and exercise, and eventually became pregnant, so I had to leave the program. But the healthy habits and regular exercise put me on solid ground for my pregnancy. Still big, but very healthy and strong. And almost two years after giving birth, I trained for and competed in my first triathlon. I absolutely believe that you will come to love the exercise, and perhaps, will compete in your own race of choice — maybe even as a family. Your health is a gift not just to yourself, but to Louanne and Nadia, and quite possibly the best gift any of you will ever receive. Go Mike!

If, however, you do reach that point where you love it, please let me know your secret.
